Cover FX The Perfect Light Highlighting Palette Review

Follow 40andholding on WordPress.com

I’ve been seeing a lot on Instagram about this brand!  I thought the highlighters from Cover FX looked really pretty so I put Cover FX The Perfect Light Highlighting Palette on my Christmas list.  Imagine my surprise when Santa left one for me!

I was excited to start using the palette, but a little apprehensive as well.  If you're a member of the over 40 club like myself, I'm sure you know that not ALL highlighters are the same and many of them just flat-out don't perform well on over 40 skin. Click To Tweet Nevertheless,  I forged ahead!

Cover FX The Perfect Light Highlighting Palette is available in two shades:  Light/Medium and Medium/Dark.  Each Palette contains 2 illuminating shades with each shade in a cream formula AND a powder formula.

Light/Medium contains the shades Celestial and Moonlight (Cream & Powder)

Medium/Deep contains the shades Sunlight and Candlelight (Cream & Powder)

I’ve been using the Light/Medium Palette. (pictured below)

Cover FX describes the cream formula as a dewy, radiant glow and the powder formula as a silky luminous finish.  You can wear each formula on its own or layer them for a “striking strobe”.  Let’s get on to my thoughts on this palette!

Texture/Application

First, let me say that this is a vegan product free of gluten, mineral oil, fragrance, parabens or talc, which I really appreciate!

The cream formulas in this palette are a dream! They have a very light & creamy texture that spreads easily and evenly. Click To TweetUsing my fingers, I apply the cream formulas along the cheekbones, under the brow bone and on the cupid’s bow of the lips.  On its own, the cream formula delivers a light dewy glow that lasts several hours.

Celestial Cream (1) in the photo above is Light Gold with a pearl sheen.  Although it appears pink in the pan, when applied to the skin, it’s golden.

Moonlight Cream (2) in the above photo is a Medium Gold with warm undertones with a light sheen.  It has slightly more shimmer than Celestial but still not overwhelming.

The powder formulas in the palette apply and blend well using a highlighter brush.  They are not dry or chalky which is good for mature skin!  The powder is very subtle with a touch of sheen that lasts several hours.

Celestial Powder (3) in the photo above is a light rose beige with warm undertones and a pearl sheen.

Moonlight Powder (4) in the photo is a light peach gold with warm undertones and a pearl sheen.

Results

Applying the cream formula first and then setting it with the powder, the result is a radiant, dewy lit from within glow.  With not too much shimmer and no glitter, this is a safe bet for anyone concerned about it settling into fine lines & wrinkles.

$39.00 USD

Overall, I love this palette. It provides a beautiful, subtle, glow and I don't have to worry about it settling into lines or actually making me look older! Click To TweetIf you like a natural, radiant glow, this is one palette you may want to try.  If you’re going for a dramatic, in your face highlight, this may not be for you!

  1. A dewey lit texture is probably the best part about this highlighter, and of course, less shimmer must be making it look more natural. Great review, Susie! <3

  2. Hi Susie! I have never tried anything from Cover FX yet. I love a light dewy highlight not the intense ones as I have oily skin. This sounds good to me cream as well as powder formulas is great. 🙂

  3. Love this! I haven’t thought about how makeup can apply differently depending on the maturity of our skin. I think this is a great idea and a great review! Do you find that cream/powder formulas perform better?

    • Normally I prefer a cream formula because they seem to blend well & overall are better on mature skin. There are some powders that work well though! It’s trial & error.??Thank you for stopping by & reading!?

  4. I love more gold tones, they’re my favourite!
This is such a thorough review, got some great recommendations there, thanks!
