Perricone MD Essential Fx Acyl-Glutathione Review

When Perricone MD debuted the Essential Fx Acyl-Glutathione Collection late last year, I was given the opportunity to try the Rejuvenating Moisturizer.  The Essential Fx Acyl-Glutathione Collection received a lot of buzz in the magazines.  It promises to smooth deep wrinkles & creases and to visibly replenish the skin’s moisture barrier.  I’ve been testing it for the last 3 months.  Does it live up to the promise?

Let’s dive in and have a closer look at Perricone MD Essential Fx Acyl-Glutathione Rejuvenating Moisturizer.

The Claim

From Perricone MD, “Essential Fx Acyl-Glutathione Rejuvenating Moisturizer is a nutrient-packed, skin-firming moisturizer with a rich, velvety texture. It deeply moisturizes, yet absorbs quickly, without leaving behind any residual greasiness or stickiness.

Formulated with Acyl-Glutathione to visibly reduce deep wrinkles and creases along with a Vitamin F Blend to improve the skin’s moisture barrier, this visibly plumping moisturizer delivers optimal nourishment to help address dry, tight skin.”

This products promises to:

• Deliver optimal nourishment to help address dry, tight skin.
• Visibly improve etched creases making them appear more shallow.
• Minimize the appearance of skin imperfections and impart a beautiful radiance.

Ingredients

The two superstar ingredients in the Rejuvenating Moisturizer are Acyl-Glutathione and Dr. Perricone’s Vitamin F Blend.  Acyl-Glutathione is comprised of three amino acids.  Glutathione is the body’s main antioxidant.  It helps to reduce the look of deep creases and improve fragile skin by protecting, repairing and detoxifying.

The Vitamin F Blend, comprised of Flaxseed, Chia Seed and Macadamia Seed oils restores suppleness to the skin and creates a healthy glow.  It intensely moisturizes and improves the skin’s moisture barrier.  Vitamin F is essential yet not naturally found in the human body.

Essential Fx Acyl-Glutathione Rejuvenating Moisturizer contains fragrance.  However, the fragrance is very low on the ingredient list and the scent doesn’t linger.  This product is cruelty-free, paraben free and gluten-free.

Packaging & Formula

Essential Fx Rejuvenating Moisturizer comes packaged in a glass tub and is available in two sizes (1 oz jar & 2 oz jar).  As with all of Perricone MD’s products, the moisturizer comes with a small spatula that you use to scoop out the product.  The velvety cream texture of this moisturizer is quickly absorbed into the skin.  One small scoop (about a dime size dollop) covers the entire face, neck and chest.

Application

Perricone MD recommends using Essential Fx Acyl-Glutathione Rejuvenating Moisturizer twice per day, morning & evening.  They recommend massaging the cream onto cleansed face and neck using a gentle upward motion.

Results

I’ve been using Essential Fx Rejuvenating Moisturizer once a day before bed for the last 3 months.  I must say, I was impressed with this cream from Day 1.  The formula is absolutely beautiful.  It is a velvety, creamy texture that melts into the skin leaving no residue behind.  The slight natural fragrance of Moisturizer goes away within seconds after applying.  Within a few days, I noticed an improvement to my skin tone.  My skin was brighter, the tone was more even and the areas where I have redness were reduced.  These results have continued and gotten better over 3 months of using this cream.

In addition, I’ve seen improvements in the firmness and suppleness of my skin.  The Rejuvenating Moisturizer provides just the right amount of hydration for my combination skin.  I actually think it has helped balance the oiliness in my problem t-zone areas.

Let’s take a look at the Product Claims vs. Actual Results over a 3 month period …

Claim:  Deeply moisturizes, yet absorbs quickly, without leaving behind any residual greasiness or stickiness.

Result: ✔ Yes, Yes, Yes!  It does exactly what it claims!

Claim:  Improves skin’s moisture barrier.  This visibly plumping moisturizer delivers optimal nourishment to help address dry, tight skin.

Result: ✔ Improved the moisture barrier providing hydration where needed and balancing the oily areas.  Skin appeared firmer and plumper.

Claim:  Minimizes the appearance of skin imperfections and imparts a beautiful radiance.

Result: ✔ Improved skin tone & texture and leaves skin brighter and more radiant.

Claim:  Visibly improves etched creases making them appear more shallow.

Result: X I didn’t notice any measurable improvement to wrinkles and fine lines.  However, in all fairness, I use Retin A which does a good job of keeping my fine lines & wrinkles at bay.

Final Take

Shall we go ahead and address the elephant in the room?  Perricone MD is high-end, luxury skincare brand.  Their products are expensive.  Any way you spin it, $100 – $179 is a lot of money for a moisturizer.  It’s not just a purchase, it’s an investment.  That being said, I’ve used a couple of Perricone MD products in the past.  The Cold Plasma Anti-aging Face Treatment and the Hypoallergenic Firming Eye Cream are both fantastic.  My experience has been, when Perricone promises specific results, the product delivers those results.  This was the case with all three of their products I used.

When considering the price, keep in mind that Perricone MD uses high quality ingredients with a lot of research behind them.  They also provide clinical studies with almost all of their products.  Both of these are expensive.  Broken down, the Rejuvenating Moisturizer is around $49 a month for the 1 oz. jar & $45 a month for the 2 oz. jar.

Finally, Perricone MD Essential Fx Rejuvenating Moisturizer is one of the best moisturizers I’ve ever used.  If you are looking for a product that will help to firm the skin and make it appear more supple; Brighten the skin, even out skin tone and provide just the right amount of moisture; this one does that & then some.  You can’t go wrong with the Rejuvenating Moisturizer.
