Soap & Glory Kick Ass All Day Wear Foundation Review

I must admit, this Foundation had me at “Kick Ass”!  Can you think of a better way to start your day then by putting on your Kick Ass All Day Wear Foundation?😂 Now that we’ve established this is perhaps the coolest name ever, I guess we should find out if this brand NEW Foundation from Soap & Glory lives up it’s name.  I recently purchased Soap & Glory Kick Ass All Day Wear Foundation and put it to the test on over 40, mature, less than perfect skin.  Ready to find out how it went?  Let’s get to it!

The Claim

According to Soap & Glory, “Kick Ass All Day Wear Foundation is a lightweight, medium coverage foundation that lasts as long as you do, all day & night; that’s 24 whole hours – WOAH.  It’s not only super long-lasting, it’s humidity, sweat AND waterproof too, plus there’s no chance of the dreaded ‘cake-y face’ – don’t you just hate that?! This fab formula stays put without smudging or melting off, leaving you to look fresh and flawless around the clock!”

Now before we go any further, I have to let you know that I won’t be testing the wear of this Foundation for 24 Hours because well… that’s just gross!  Who wants their foundation to last that long anyway?  Note to Soap & Glory, unless you’re partying all night long or plan on sleeping with your makeup on, a good 12-14 hours is a home run!

Formula & Packaging

Soap & Glory Kick Ass All Day Wear Foundation comes in a plastic bottle with a pump dispenser.  It is a liquid foundation with a creamy, lightweight texture.  It does not contain any SPF protection.

Ingredients

This foundation is silicone based with four of the top ten ingredients being silicones.  The formula contains no drying alcohol and while it does contain Titanium dioxide (one of the ingredients found in mineral sunscreens), the percentage is not enough to provide any SPF value.  Kick Ass All Day Wear Foundation contains both Methylparaben, Ethylparaben and Talc so if Parabens or Talc are a concern, this is not the one for you.

Shade Selection

Kick Ass Foundation is available in twelve shades broken down into five categories, Fair, Light, Medium, Tan and Deep Tan.  There are two choices available in Fair, Tan & Deep and three choices available in Light & Medium.  While I was able to find a close match for my fair/light cool toned skin, I’m afraid that a lot of women may not find a match here.  With so many of the beauty brands offering extensive shade ranges, I hope this is something Soap & Glory will take a look at and perhaps offer additional shades in the near future.

Application & Coverage

Soap & Glory recommends dotting onto your face and blending with your fingers, a blending sponge or foundation brush.  I tried all three methods and found the smoothest application came from a foundation brush with fingers being second and a blending sponge last on the list.  The blending sponge seemed to soak up the foundation making application a bit splotchy.

One pump of Kick Ass All Day Wear Foundation provides medium coverage and fuller coverage can be achieved using another 1/2-1 pump.  This foundation does a good job of evening out skin tone and covering discoloration & redness.  The finish is smooth and flawless & dries to a semi-matte.

The Wear Test

Day One:

On the first day, I applied Kick Ass Foundation over my current favorite Sunscreen and NO Primer.  Using the It Cosmetics Airbrush Buffing Foundation Brush #110, this Foundation applied like a dream.  It blends right into the skin and the finish is flawless.  There is no initial settling into pores, fine lines or wrinkles.  I checked in at 4 Hours and the coverage still looked flawless with no wearing off or settling into lines & wrinkles.  At 8 Hours coverage had worn off around the tip of the nose and there was a little bit of shine in the t-zone.  But overall, it still looked very good.  At 12 Hours, I was shocked to see everything looked pretty much the same as it did at 8 Hours.

I was excited to find out if Day 1 was a fluke or… could this Foundation REALLY last a good 12 Hours?

Day Two:

On Day two, I applied the Foundation over Sunscreen and used a Primer.  I used the Gripping & Firming Primer from Cover FX (stay tuned for a review on this primer coming soon!).  I applied using my fingers on one side and a blending sponge on the other.  The blending sponge didn’t work very well with this foundation as the sponge soaked it up making application blotchy.  Fingers worked fine and after touching up the sponge side, I applied a very small amount of It Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Powder to my t-zone hoping it would eliminate the mid-day shine that occurred the previous day.

At 4 Hours, the coverage was flawless with no shine and no settling into fine lines.  At both the 8 hour and 12 hour check-in, everything still looked flawless.  This foundation doesn’t move and truly does last 12 hours.

On a side note, Soap & Glory claims this to be humidity, sweat and waterproof.  It’s not hot here in South Carolina right now so I did a bit of power cleaning and worked up a sweat.  The foundation did NOT wear off at all!

Price

$16.00 USD for 1 oz.

Final Verdict

I am truly impressed and to be honest with you, quite surprised that I ended up liking this Foundation as much as I did.  Kick Ass Foundation applies like a dream and melts into the skin for a flawless finish.  It is long wearing and doesn’t settle into pores, fine lines or wrinkles.  Let’s take a look at the Pros & Cons.

Pros:

  • Lightweight, creamy formula provides medium coverage with a flawless semi-matte finish
  • Evens out the skin and covers redness
  • Doesn’t Settle into Pores, Fine Lines or Wrinkles
  • Long Wearing 12+hours
  • Wears well with or without a Primer
  • Survived the Sweat-proof Test
  • Pump Dispenser
  • Wears well under Sunscreen
  • No drying alcohol in the ingredients

Cons:

  • Those with Combo or Oily Skin may need to add a setting powder in the t-zone
  • Limited Shade Range
  • Contains Parabens
  • Contains Talc which causes irritation with some people

Overall this foundation is very good.  My concern is that many women won’t be able to find out how good it is because they won’t be able to find a shade match.  If you are able to find a match and you’re looking for a medium coverage, liquid foundation that provides flawless application and finish, lasts all day & is mature skin friendly, this is worth trying!

Update 8/2022:  Sadly, Soap & Glory has discontinued the Kickass Foundation.  You can still find a few shades online Here.  The Ordinary Serum Foundation and No7 Lift & Luminate Triple Action Serum Foundation are two good dupes.  The formula is very similar to the Kickass Foundation.

  1. I did not even realise that Soap and Glory did make up. It certainly sounds perfect for warm and humid climates and for all night party goers! Thanks for such a detailed and thorough review. I would be concerned about the inclusion of parabens and talc.

    • Yes I agree, perfect for warm climates! I’m hopeful that more & more of the beauty brands will consider going paraben free. Many of them have but there’s still SO many products that include them. Thank you so much for stopping by & reading!💕💕

  2. I’ve seen the Soap & Glory Brand in Target, and thought their packaging and marketing was cute and catchy. Sounds like a good foundation, and at a very reasonable price!

  3. Good review Susie and you’ve introduced me to a new brand. I have never heard of Soap and Glory and the price…wow! I get stuck in a rut sometimes and use the same thing over and over. For the price, and staying put during hot and humid climates, I may need to try this one.

  4. It’s amazing how thorough your information is. I dont use much make up and the few times I tried I didn’t like the results. I do lipstick and eye make up and that’s it. After reading this I’m actually curious to try again, a great foundation might be the secret:)

    • Thank you so much Angie!🙏 Yes, a good foundation can make a world of difference evening out our skin tone, & providing a flawless base for other makeup. There are so many good formulas out now, it’s a great time to jump in & try again!💕💕

    • Christine, I use shade 1N, it’s the lightest in the range. I have light skin with neutral undertones. I am normally in the fair/light or light range with other foundations. Hope this helps!💕💕

  5. After watching a YouTube video on drug store foundations for mature skin, I decided to try this one and Physicians Formula. Of the 2, this one wins hands down. I wear it over a primer and love the way it goes on as well as the way it wears. I use a brush to apply. Today I added some shading around my hairline and just under my cheekbones and it looked amazingly natural. It looked exactly the same at the end of the day.

The smell of the Physicians Formula (reminiscent of self tanners) was so distracting that I’m not even sure what to say about it. Oh… it has a doe foot applicator rather than a pump. I think it looks ok, but I may end up tossing it because if the smell… maybe it’s the SPF.

At 56, I’m more than happy with Soap & Glory Kick Ass Foundation! I have a couple others that I will probably continue to use at least until they’re gone, but this is my new go-to.

    • Thank you so much for sharing your experience with the Soap & Glory Foundation! I agree, it is so good. They really nailed it with the formula and love that it comes in a pump. 🙂
