Ever wish you could trade in your old makeup for brand new makeup? Well guess what beauties? Wish granted! You can do your part to save the planet AND get free makeup from MAC Cosmetics! Yes… I said Free! It’s all possible through the Back to MAC Program.
The Back to MAC Program has been around for a few years but has recently gained a whole new (and much larger) audience thanks to Instagram.
Here’s how the Back to MAC Recycling Program works.
First you need to sign up for the MAC Lover Loyalty Program. It’s free to join and you earn points every time you purchase MAC Cosmetics. To sign up, visit a MAC Store or MAC Counter in a department store. You can also sign up online Here. You’ll need to create an account first, then sign in and click on “MAC LOVER”.
Next, it’s time to start saving your used containers. Most MAC products are considered qualified containers. They include blush compacts, eyeshadow pots, foundation bottles, lipstick tubes, and more. Once you have six of them, return the containers to any MAC counter, and you walk away with free makeup. Customers returning six containers receive a free lipstick, lipglass, or eyeshadow.
To make participating in the program easier, MAC Lover members can return containers as you go. This means you can return, one, two or more containers to a MAC Cosmetics Store or Counter and they will track them until you reach six and qualify for a complimentary makeup product.
Yay! Not sure about you but I’m cashing mine in for a Velvet Teddy Lipstick, my all time favorite shade from MAC! Their Pro Longwear Paint Pots are seriously good too and can double as an eyeshadow and an eye primer!
If you’re wondering what happens to the products that are returned through this program, they get recycled by the retailer.
So, save your empty lipstick tubes & tins. You’ll be saving money on your next MAC purchase, scoring free makeup and reducing your carbon footprint.
Kudos to MAC Cosmetics for making a difference!
Until next time,

What a great idea! I would never have thought to recycle make up containers. Kudos to this company for coming up with a way to do their part for our environment!
I agree! They have set the standard. Now the others just need to follow MAC’s lead!💕💕

It sure is, right? A great model for other beauty brands to follow! Thanks so much for reading.💕💕
That is so awesome! I had no idea they recycled their products! Thanks for cluing us in!
You’re welcome! It’s great to know, right?💕💕
That is a great program. They should give a discount with containers from other brands.
Great idea! It would be nice to have one location to return ALL of our makeup & skincare containers, right? We are headed in the right direction though. That may come sooner than we think!💕💕
This is such a great idea! I love the idea of returning as you go. LUSH has a similar program, but I have to save em all up and bring them in together.
Yes! That’s a great feature they added to the program. Much easier for the consumer that way. Thank you so much for stopping by & reading!💕💕
I have seen this MAC program and I am happy that they came up with this idea. I hope the consumers can benefit more from this.
I agree! It’s a win win for the consumer, for Mac and for our beautiful planet!🌍 Thank you so much for reading!💕💕
I don’t have any MAC product so I didn’t know about this recycling program. It is so great to get free products in return for your empty containers, as MAC products are expensive.
Free makeup is always a good thing, right?👏 Thank you so much for reading!❤️
With so many product packaging filling up our landfills it’s nice to see a company taking the initiative to do something to help reduce the waste. Bravo to Mac!
Yes! I agree 💯! Hopefully we’ll see more Beauty Brands follow Mac’s lead on this important issue! 🌍 ♻️
Great initiative on MAC’s part, I wish this would be legally required for all cosmetic companies.
I’m hoping more & more brands will get on board with a program like this! Thank you for stopping by & reading!💕💕
My wife uses MAC, they’re always been a great brand, amazing initiative.
Awesome Chad! Your wife has great taste! I hope you’ll invite her to stop by 40andholding!👍 Thank you so much for reading!💕💕
Oh wow, I didn’t know that they did this. This is a great initiative.
It really is! Would love to see more beauty brands doing this. Thank you for stopping by & reading!💕💕
You really can’t go wrong with a good shade of lipstick. One of my favorite lipstick brands is MAC.
Yes, I agree Mac lipsticks are fantastic!👏 Now we can get a free one just by saving our old Mac products! Thank you for reading!💕💕
Great that they are reusing the containers. Do you know if their products are all natural? I am a huge Arbonne makeup and skin care fan because of their care to what goes into the products as well as their reusable cases/containers for many of the items. I know one of my daughters only buys Mac lipsticks; sending her the link to your post Susie!
Thank you so much Lisa!🙏 Mac does have some natural, vegan products. You can ask about any of their products at a store & they will be able to tell you whether or not it is. If ordering online, they have a live chat feature that can assist. 💕💕
I love that Mac has a recycling program. Besides, Lush and Mac, I don’t know of other brands that do such a thing. It’s a great way to help the environment and reduce plastic waste.
Right? Now we need the other Brands to follow suit! Thank you for stopping by & reading!💕💕
What a great program! I was actually going through my makeup drawers yesterday and was trying to decide what I should do with all my “almost gones.” I can bring them back and get new makeup! I’m so happy I saved all my old MAC makeup!
Yay! I’m happy to hear you saved them & can take advantage of this great program. Thank you for stopping by & reading Phyllis!💕💕
That’s a brilliant idea to recycle containers. I need to keep that in mind.
Right? Now we need the rest of the beauty brands to follow suit! Thank you so much for stopping by & reading!💕💕
