Beauty Empties

Can you believe this is my first Beauty Empties Post?  After 20 months of Blogging, I figured it was about time to take a trip through my trash and have a look at the makeup and skincare products I used up this month and whether or not I will be repurchasing them.  So here we go, let’s have a look at these eight products that make up this month’s Empties!

Thayers Alcohol-Free Cucumber Witch Hazel Toner

This product is a staple in my nightly skincare routine.  I use Thayers Alcohol-Free Cucumber Witch Hazel Toner right after cleansing before applying the rest of my skincare serums, lotions & potions!  This all natural toner’s main ingredient is Witch Hazel, a natural astringent that reduces inflammation and decreases oil and redness in the skin.  Other notable ingredients are Aloe Vera Juice, Cucumber Extract and Glycerin which work together to sooth the skin by reducing puffiness and irritation, diminish clogged pores and help retain moisture.

If you’re looking for an affordable, all natural toner, this is a great option.  I have already repurchased this and always have one of these on hand! In addition to the Cucumber Formula, this is available in Lavender, Rose Petal and Unscented.

Price:  $7.00 – $10.00 USD

Paula’s Choice Resist Daily Pore-Refining Treatment with 2% BHA

This liquid solution from Paula’s Choice Resist Daily Pore-Refining Treatment with 2% BHA contains 2% BHA (Beta hydroxy Acid).  It works to improve the visible signs of aging, unclog pores and diminish their appearance and smooth the skin’s surface.  I purchased this because I was looking to incorporate an alpha or beta hydroxy acid (AHA/BHA) into my skincare routine.  AHA’s are recommended for people with normal to dry skin and BHA’s are better for people with normal to oily or combination skin.

While this was a good product that caused little to no irritation, I probably will not be repurchasing it.  I have since found an AHA product that I love and use once per week.  Drunk Elephant’s Sukari Babyfacial has become a Holy Grail for me. It’s a once per week treatment that you leave on for 20 minutes and it leaves your skin glowing!

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 45

I am a big believer in sunscreen.  I use it every single day on my face and every part of my body that is exposed.  This ultra sheer formula for the body from Neutrogena is lightweight and non-greasy and won’t irritate sensitive skin.  While I liked it a lot, I have found one that I like better and will probably not repurchase this right now.

If you’re curious, Hawaiian Tropic Sheer Touch Ultra Radiance Lotion SPF30 is the one I am currently obsessed with.  I love the sheer, lightweight formula.  It leaves a subtle glow on the skin and smells amazing!

Price: $8.99 USD

Repurchase: NO

La Roche-Posay Anthelios 50 Mineral Ultra-Light Sunscreen Fluid SPF 50

This all mineral sunscreen for the face is a bit pricey but so worth it!  It’s non-greasy, doesn’t irritate sensitive skin or eyes and wears well both under makeup or on its own.  La Roche-Posay Anthelios 50 Mineral Ultra-Light Sunscreen Fluid SPF 50 is oil free, paraben free and fragrance free.  It is water resistant up to 40 minutes.  I always have a bottle of this close by!

Price: $33.50 USD

Repurchase: YES

Bare Minerals Original Foundation

I’ve been using this mineral foundation from Bare Minerals for over 20 years.  While I have tried other mineral foundations, nothing compares to this.  I don’t wear this every day but it is my go to foundation for days around the house or casual days out and about.  It’s lightweight, blends like a dream and doesn’t contain any junk!  If you’re looking for a foundation that is good for your skin, provides light to medium coverage, covers redness and imperfections and blends flawlessly, this is it.  I will continue to repurchase this unless something else comes along to knock it off the throne!  The shade selection is not bad either, with over 30 shades.  I wear fairly light and love the original formula.  There is also a matte formula available for those with oily skin.

Price: $29.00 USD

Repurchase: YES

Peter Thomas Roth Retinol Fusion PM

This formula from Peter Thomas Roth contains Retinol at 1.5% and is infused with Vitamins C & E.  It helps to gently exfoliate the skin with a continuous burst of retinol all night long.  It addresses the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, improves skin tone and texture.  Peter Thomas Roth Retinol Fusion PM is oil free and fragrance free.

I generally include a retinol product in my nightly skincare routine.  This is a good one for anyone with sensitive skin and I love the consistency of this serum.  It almost feels like an oil and it sinks right into the skin with no residue left behind.  I’m not repurchasing this right now because I’m currently testing some other retinol products.  However, I definitely see another bottle of this one in my future!

Price: $65.00 USD

Beauty Empties I will be Repurchasing!
4 favorites from my Beauty Empties that I will be repurchasing!

NARS – Radiant Creamy Concealer

Beauty gurus, beauty bloggers and celebrities love this concealer.  According to NARS, the Radiant Creamy Concealer “instantly blurs any dark circles or imperfections that your foundation doesn’t fully catch.  Enriched with moisturizing Vitamin E, this lightweight formula hydrates on contact and helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines with a single stroke.”

For me, this concealer was a bit too luminous.  I actually felt that is enhanced fine lines.  Perhaps it works wonders on younger skin, but not so much on over 40, mature skin.

Price: $30.00 USD

Repurchase: NO

NARS – Radiant Creamy Concealer

This multi-tasking Skin Mist from Tatcha is one of my absolute favorites.  You can see my full review of this product HereTatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist can be used as a Primer, to set your makeup, to refresh throughout the day, as a moisturizer… this list goes on.  With Squalane, Red Algae and Tatcha’s anti-aging HADASEI-3 Complex, this milky liquid spray gives the perfect glow.  Just one spritz on each side of your face and you’ll be looking like a Kardashian in no time! By the way, this is a favorite of Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Lopez and numerous other celebrities!

The only negative on this product is the price.  It is quite expensive at $48.00 for 1.35 oz.  However, there is a smaller bottle available for $20.00 and the large bottle lasts several months with daily use.  This is worth the splurge if your budget allows!

Price: $48.00 USD 1.35 oz bottle.  $20.00 0.4 oz bottle

Repurchase: YES

And that’s a wrap for this month’s Beauty Empties!  Have you tried any of these products?  What products have you used up recently?  I would love to hear what products you are using.  Let me know in the comments.  As always, I appreciate you stopping by and reading!

Until next time…

  1. Great post. I always find “Empties” better than favourites because how can something be your favourite and then next month something else is? Drunk Elephant has just hit the UK but that facial treatment sounds like something I need to get.

    • Yes! The Sukari Babyfacial is so good! I love that you only have to use it once a week and it leaves your skin looking so smooth & glowing! Thank you so much for stopping by & reading!💕💕

  2. Happy New Year Susie. Love the snowflake effect on your blog. A very honest review of the products. I’m a big of Witch Hazel. Need some more actually. Thanks for the heads up with the NARS concealer, certainly don’t want to enhance any lines.

    • Happy New Year! I love the snowflakes too, they’ll be here for a few more days & then sadly will be gone until next Christmas! Witch hazel is such a gift from nature, right? Thank you so much for stopping by & reading!💕💕
